What is Love?
No, love is not the warm fuzzy feeling you get when you see a beautiful/handsome lady or gent. On the contrary, Love is a person.
Love is patient and kind; love does not envy or boast; it is not arrogant or rude. It does not insist on its own way; it is not irritable or resentful; it does not rejoice at wrongdoing, but rejoices with the truth. … Love never ends.(1 Corinthians 13:4–8a)
Love is far more than romantic feelings you devolop for someone close to you. When we analysis the personality of Jesus, we realize that when we substitute love for Jesus in the scripture above, it fit perfectly.
Before we can say we’ve loved, we must have the qualities of Jesus. He healed the sick, he consoled the depressed, he fed the hungry and even welcomed the outcasts.
1 John:4.19
We love because he first loved us.
We can’t learn to love if we’ve never experienced the love of God. But we can boldly love because we have experienced the love of God which was shown though his son Jesus. Not quite shockingly, unbelievers can’t help to bring themselves to love because they do not know of the love God has for them. It’s therefore our mandate to bring unbelievers to Christ by demonstrating his unfailing love.
